Fans of “Twilight” believe Stephenie Meyer will eventually publish “Midnight Sun.”

I’ve been waiting YEARS for this!

It’s been almost 15 years since Twilight fans first met Edward Cullen and Bella Swan in the iconic book series and it looks like they might be heading back to Forks pretty soon.

Stephenie Meyer has upgraded her website with a very mysterious countdown that has fans absolutely buzzing over what the future news could be. The countdown is set to stop at midnight on Monday, May 4.

Fickle Fish Films, Stephenie Meyer’s production company, hinted at some big news when they posted a photo of the night sky with the caption, “stepheniemeyer.com”

According to some fans, the original source code of the website includes a link to stepheniemeyermidnightsun.com. The website also revealed that the server was owned by Fickle Fish Films.

Midnight Sun was originally set to be released as another edition of the first book, but from Edward’s point of view instead of Bella’s. The first twelve chapters were leaked back in 2008, which caused Stephenie to shut down the book and revealed that it was no longer going to be released. Stephenie later posted the rough draft on her website and fans can still check it out.

“If I tried to write Midnight Sun now, in my current frame of mind, James would probably win and all the Cullens would die, which wouldn’t dovetail too well with the original story,” Stephenie wrote in a blog post after the leak . “In any case, I feel too sad about what has happened to continue working on Midnight Sun, and so it is on hold indefinitely.”

In 2015, for the book’s 10th anniversary, Stephenie released Life and Death: Twilight Reimagined, which was a gender-flipped version of the original book.

No matter what the news is it looks like fans will certainly have a lot to look forward to very soon. Until then, at least we can always go back and read the original books.
