Episode 5 of Will Trent starts with a missing Betty

Will Trent is back in action in episode five, “The Look Out.” And in this episode there’s a bet being made, murders to solve, and it looks like a Betty to be found.

Within the first few seconds of this episode it’s clear that Betty has gone missing. With Angie and Will coming into the house frantic and worried, unable to find where the dog is, it quickly becomes clear that it’s some point Angie left the door open and Betty is nowhere to be found. However, while Will is trying to figure out how to find Betty and sharing the things that he is doing to connect with his dog, we quickly hear the pup barking to announce her presence.

Unfortunately, the stress of Betty seemingly going missing leads to an argument between Will and Angie that sees the two storming away with anger and hurt between them. And with Will having to go back to the office, there’s no way to make it right between them. Quickly, a new case takes wills attention and leads to a vet between him and a police officer.

Will Trent starts the episode with Betty missing and a shooting that leads to a bet
While Will Trent might be an amazing detective, and he was able to solve one ring of crime, unfortunately for him he did end up losing the bet that he made. But, it did lead to a whole new case. And that’s pretty exciting in its own way.

The fact that this new case leads to a murder, definitely gives Will and Faith some thing to keep them busy. While over on Angie’s plate, she has her own murder to solve. And it looks like bitcoin is playing a part in this particular case.

After deciding to do a double or nothing on his bet, Will heads home to do some cooking and thinking. Unfortunately, with Betty watching him in the background he ends up getting distracted by the idea that he is slipping. This leads to him burning his hand and throwing the food across the kitchen to Betty.

Betty wanders off because she doesn’t seem to be very interested in the food and burning hot pan. And suddenly Will is taking a sledgehammer to his house. Luckily for his house, Angie shows up to put a stop to that and the tension boils over leading to what might be a reconciliation, but really ends up being a mistake.

This whole scene leads to a great moment between Will and Faith and a little music. But it also leads to some revelations about their case too.

With a new suspect and a possible motive, things are turning around for Will’s case. Or is it?

If there is one thing that Faith and Will are able to do, its work together and solve a case. And that’s exactly what they do. Are there bumps along the way? Absolutely. But at the same time it is clear that these two have definitely grown as partners. And we love to see it.

But what we love to see even more is the way that will has grown as a pet parent. There is some thing about the way he is with Betty that truly touches our heart and it carried throughout the entire episode. In fact, in that final scene of the episode we get to see Will and Betty having a relaxing moment together as he sits in silent contemplation petting her while she is sitting in his lap.

While they are having this moment, Angie walks in and states that she was trying to run away and she had promised that she wouldn’t. She’s back to talk about her day and maybe even try to fix what’s broken between them. When Betty starts barking at her, she asks if Betty gets a vote. And after a beat, Will’s quick to say that she doesn’t. It’s clear that there are two women in Will’s life, Betty and Angie. And both of them are important to him.
