Donnie Wahlberg and Jenny McCarthy Get Candid About Baby Plans and Life After Blue Bloods
Donnie Wahlberg and Jenny McCarthy are still madly in love more than a decade after tying the knot. The fan-favorite couple recently celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary and now, with Wahlberg officially saying goodbye to Blue Bloods after 14 seasons, they’re opening up about what the future holds—and whether that includes expanding their family.
In a new joint interview with Us Weekly, Donnie, 55, and Jenny, 52, gave fans a rare glimpse into their private life in St. Charles, Illinois, where they live in a beautiful mansion just outside of Chicago. And while there’s no shortage of love in their home, one thing the couple agrees on is that they’re done having babies.
No More Babies, But Plenty of Love
“We wish we could have,” Jenny said when asked if they ever considered having a child together. “It seemed like we waited our whole lives for each other. But now we’re a happy blended family. We’ll live through the grandkids.”
Donnie echoed her feelings, adding that he’s at peace with the life they’ve built. Between them, the couple already has three adult children: Donnie’s sons Xavier, 31, and Elijah, 23, from his first marriage to Kimberly Fey, and Jenny’s 22-year-old son Evan, from her previous marriage to John Asher. Evan, who was diagnosed with autism as a child, continues to live with the couple—and their five beloved dogs—in Illinois.
“We’re both on the same wavelength: no more babies,” Jenny confirmed.
Still Going Strong After a Decade
While some Hollywood couples fade over time, Donnie and Jenny’s love story continues to thrive. Donnie made it clear that divorce isn’t even a topic of conversation for them.
“The idea of divorce is not something that is even remotely possible,” he said.
So, what’s the secret to staying so connected after more than 10 years? According to Donnie, it’s all about never taking each other for granted.
“When we started dating, I sent her flowers all the time,” he shared. “Why would I stop now because there’s a ring on her finger? Shouldn’t I put the same care into it as when I was trying to win her heart? Actually, I should put even more care into it. We both try to do that.”
Life After Blue Bloods
2024 was a landmark year for Donnie Wahlberg. Not only did he celebrate 10 years of marriage, but he also bid farewell to his role as Detective Danny Reagan on Blue Bloods, the long-running CBS drama that ended after 14 seasons.
“There is, of course, a sadness in saying goodbye to BlueBloods,” Wahlberg wrote on Instagram in December. “But what a heck of a ride we had together!”
Fans were touched by the heartfelt tribute, with many noting that Wahlberg’s passion for the show was clear in every episode. But Donnie is not slowing down anytime soon. In fact, he and Jenny are diving deeper into their shared production work.
A New Chapter in True Crime
With Blue Bloods in the rearview mirror, Donnie is now focused on the sixth season of Very Scary People, a true crime docuseries that explores the lives of history’s most infamous criminals. The series is produced through the couple’s own company, Work Baby Productions.
And that’s not all. Donnie and Jenny are teaming up once again to co-host Very Scary Lovers, a brand-new spinoff of Very Scary People set to air on Investigation Discovery. The series, which premiered on February 2, will shine a spotlight on couples whose romantic relationships turned deadly.
A Love That Keeps Growing
For Donnie and Jenny, the future is all about quality time, creativity, and continuing to support one another’s passions. While babies may not be in the cards, their lives are full—with children, grandkids, beloved pets, and an unshakable bond that seems only to grow stronger with time.
“We’re soulmates,” Jenny once said. And for anyone watching them walk red carpets hand-in-hand, co-host shows, and speak about each other with such reverence, it’s clear that sentiment rings true.
