Chicago P.D: Tracy Spiridakos Wrote an Emotional Farewell to Jesse Lee Soffer

Tracy Spiridakos Wrote an Emotional Farewell to Jesse Lee Soffer

On Season 10, Episode 3 of Chicago P.D., viewers gave a bittersweet farewell to longtime fan favorite Detective Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer).

While Chi-Hards are bound to miss Halstead being such an integral character within the show, the Chicago P.D. cast is also feeling emotional about the exit. Tracy Spiridakos, who plays Detective Hailey Upton and Halstead’s on-screen partner, took to Instagram to say goodbye to her co-star.

She captioned the sweet pic, “And off to Bolivia he goes….*sigh* @jesseleesoffer you’re the best. So much crying that day. Until next time Jay Halstead ❤️ #upsteadforever.”

Soffer’s last episode of Chicago P.D. was a heartbreaking affair, in which Detective Halstead resigns after a robbery case goes south and he kills a man in the line of duty. Shattered by the events, Halstead decides to go to Bolivia for an extended trip, leaving Upton back in Chicago. Naturally, many fans are curious about what Halstead leaving the force (and the country!) means for him and Upton.

Halstead assures Upton that this time apart will not be the death of their relationship, telling her, “It’s not forever. It’s eight months, maybe a little longer. But I swear to you that we’re gonna get through this because you’re the love of my life, and if I’m yours, then you’ll know that you have to let me go.”

Even with Halstead’s reassurance, the separation of Upstead is one of the most heartbreaking scenes in all of Chicago P.D. history. We’re still processing!

Watch Chicago P.D. on NBC Wednesdays at 10/9c and the next day on Peacock.
