Chicago Fire: Will Sam Carver die in Chicago Fire season 11?

Will Sam Carver die in Chicago Fire season 11?

Sam Carver (Jake Lockett) is in trouble. The character has struggled to find his footing in the 51, given his strained dynamic with Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) and his confrontational manner, which lead to him nearly being penalized by a fire victim.

Of course, things ramped up in the fall finale, when Carver accompanied Kidd on a mission to disarm a bomb. They managed to remove the bomb from the leg of their victim, but it went off immediately after, causing the house to cave in on the firefighters.

Is Carver alive? Is he going to make it out of the rubble?

Is Jake Lockett leaving Chicago Fire?

Well, for starters, Kidd is almost certainly ok. She’s one of the three most important characters on the show right now, so the worst that could happen to her would be a few injuries. Carver, on the other hand, is still an unproven commodity.

He’s not a core member of the 51 yet, and while he’s made strides with Kidd, he’s still a bit of an acquired taste for the rest of the squad. This seeming uncertainty on the part of the show is pretty commonplace. Often times writers will want to test out characters with a smaller arc, to see if the audience connects with them. If they don’t, the character gets written out. If they do, then they stick around.

Carver still has a ways to go before he’s safe from sudden death. It would be undeniably powerful and shocking if he died as a result of the explosion, especially given how much focus was on him earlier in the episode, but it would also seem like a bit of a wasted opportunity.

Chicago Fire has had to part ways with a few essential characters over the years, so the desire to keep things fresh and unexpected is understandable. Carver could become a fan favorite in the seasons to come, so we think the writers will roll the dice on his future and allow him to make it out of season 11 in one piece.
