Chicago Fire : Characters are spooked by a psychic’s predictions

 

Chicago Fire is a pretty grounded show. Anybody who’s watched an episode over the last decade plus can attest to that. So it’s been interesting to note the synopsis for the upcoming season finale in which one of the characters is spooked by the predictions of a psychic…

The synopsis in question reads:

“Brett waits for life-changing news; Herrmann encounters a psychic with a grave warning on a call; Kidd finds a new lead on the Homeland Security case.”

Who died in the Chicago Fire finale?

Spooky, right? Herrmann (David Eigenberg) is one of the most practical members of the 51, both in terms of experience and general worldview, but the fact that he’s been going through so much in his personal life could mean he’s more open to this superstitious outlook.

Herrmann’s wife, Cindy (Robyn Coffin), is still undergoing chemotherapy treatments after being diagnosed with cancer early in season 11, and while both of them have put a brave face on, the emotional toll of these treatments cannot be overstated.

Herrmann has to be cognizant of the fact that Cindy might not win her battle against cancer, in which case he would not only lose his wife, but be tasked with raising all of their children alone. It’s a lot to consider, especially when he’s risking his life on a daily basis.

While the synopsis implies that Herrmann is the one who is at risk in the “grave warning”, there’s a chance that the warning could be aimed at a co-worker, and that Herrmann has to consider the safety of him or her as the episode unfolds.

The otherworldly element of the psychic angle leads us to believe that it’s merely a plot device meant to build up tension, but, conversely, it will be happening during a season finale, so we can’t take anything for granted. Fingers crossed the psychic is simply pulling Herrmann’s leg.
