Chef’s Shocking Response to Gordon Ramsay’s Salt Complaint: ‘No Seasoning Allowed!’ on Kitchen Nightmares

Gordon Ramsay is feeling extra salty!

In a new episode of Kitchen Nightmares, airing Tuesday, March 11, the celebrity chef, 58, is disappointed by an overly-salted pasta dish he’s served at the Creole-Italian restaurant Blake’s Place in New Orleans.

In an exclusive clip from the episode, Ramsay takes a bite of what appears to be a breaded pasta dish and immediately complains of its saltiness.

Grimacing, the celebrity chef says, “The breading is so salty.” He reaches to take a sip from his water glass and expresses his concerns to a server. “What is this sauce?” he asks.

She explains that the sauce at the bottom of the dish, served with fettuccine, is an Alfredo sauce. “It is so spicy,” Ramsay says, to which the server explains that the overpowering taste is likely due to the restaurant’s signature seasoning blend.

“That is so salty,” the chef reiterates in disbelief as he passes the server his plate. “Can you ask them to taste that?” The server follows through on his request and brings the pasta dish back into the kitchen. “Chef Ramsay would like you to taste this,” she says as she enters the back space.

The restaurant chef, holding a fork, looks at the server and asks about Ramsay’s feedback. “Why? What did he say?” she asks, to which the server replies, “He believes it’s over-seasoned, and too spicy and salty.” The restaurant chef takes a bite of the dish and defensively says, “It’s delicious to me.” The server turns away with an “all right, sounds good.”

Irritated, the restaurant chef gestures to the plate and tells one of the cooks, “Too salty? Why doesn’t he come back here and cook the pasta then?” Up front, the server tells Ramsay that the chef tasted the dish and declared it “fantastic.” He then questions if that’s how the dish is typically served.

Meanwhile, in the kitchen, the chef takes a gulp out of her water before commanding her staff to “make everything bland.” She tells them, “No seasoning, no nothing. Every dish from now on, bland.”

According to a description of the episode, the owner of the restaurant, while receptive to the celebrity chef’s criticism, appears to be more focused on building her brand and online presence than running a restaurant.

Over the course of season 9, which premiered on Jan. 7, Ramsay has visited several Louisiana eateries, including Iberville Cuisine & Oyster Bar, Voleo’s Seafood Restaurant and Verdict Lounge & Restaurant. At these establishments, the chef has refused “dangerous” food and even broke his fork trying to cut a steak.

In another episode, at Kings Blu Jam Café in Texas, he catches a customer “projectile vomiting” after she ate the same dish as him.

Nightmare Kitchens airs Tuesdays at 8/7C on Fox and next day on Hulu.
