‘Chase’ Embraces Fatherhood on General Hospital!

Swickard has nailed his character’s current storyline.
General Hospital’s Chase has been devastated since he learned he is sterile and Josh Swickard has been hitting it out of the park as his character deals with the fallout.
It’s Not You, It’s Me
Swickard (Chase) has been turning one heartwarming performance after another as Chase struggles with the fact that he can not start a family with Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton), due to his inability to father a child. The earnest and noble cop got the news a few weeks ago and has been on a journey to start a family ever since. With each passing episode, Chase comes up with ways to make the couple’s dream a reality, even suggesting they use his brother Finn’s (ex-Michael Easton) sperm to impregnate his wife. As Chase tried to get Brook Lynn to warm up to the idea, Swickard portrayed a man desperately clinging to a way to fulfill his wife’s dream of becoming a mother.
Mother Of A Secret
While Brook Lynn did come clean about giving her baby up for adoption, there are still two big reveals that are primed to come out. First, Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) was the baby’s bio dad. Second, that son is living under the Quartermaine mansion – Gio (Giovanni Mazza)! Lois (Rena Sofer), unbeknownst to Brook Lynn, gave the baby boy Brook Lynn delivered to Lois’ cousin, Camila Cerulo to raise as her own. Even though Brook Lynn told Chase about having a baby and putting it up for adoption, she did not disclose that the father was Dante Falconeri, Chase’s best friend and partner at the PCPD. But the other secret, that Gio is that very child, becomes public knowledge, everyone in the Quartermaine household will be rocked to their core. Chase responded with compassion and care for Brook Lynn, even though she had withheld the truth from him for the entirety of their relationship
Applause, Applause
One of the biggest reasons your heart goes out to Chase is because his portrayer, Swickard, has nailed down the sincere, sweet, almost puppy-dog like nature of Chase. He is tender and noble with Brook Lynn, takes his job as a cop seriously and is a close friend to Dante. Playing the good guy can get old quick, but Swickard’s easy going portrayal never seems too vanilla or unrealistically sweet. You cannot help but root for him and I look forward to the day that Swickard gets to sink his teeth into the material when the inevitable fallout comes.
