Brooklyn Rae Silzer Breaks Silence on Her Exit from General Hospital After 13 Years

Brooklyn Rae Silzer has opened up about her departure from General Hospital after an incredible 13-year run. The 18-year-old actress, who played Emma Drake on the daytime soap, shared a heartfelt message on social media following the announcement that Braedyn Bruner, 24, would be stepping into the role of Emma.

In an emotional post shared on Monday, the same day Bruner took over the iconic role, Silzer expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to work on General Hospital and the love and support from both the cast and her fans. “A little note to my @GeneralHospital family and fans who have loved me over the years ❤️ B xoxo,” Silzer captioned the post, adding that she would always cherish her time as Emma.

“I am forever grateful to my amazing General Hospital family who have supported me and watched me grow up over the years as Emma. Although I’m sad my time as Emma has come to an end, I will cherish all of my memories and friendships made. I am so lucky to have been cast as Emma 13 years ago and to have had the opportunity to grow her character over the years,” Silzer wrote.

Excited about the future of Emma, she also shared her excitement for Bruner taking over the role. “I am so excited to see how Braedyn takes care of Emma and brings new layers to her character. I’m forever thankful for General Hospital, and Emma will always hold a special place in my heart.”

Silzer first joined General Hospital in 2011 at the age of 5, quickly becoming a beloved figure in the soap opera world. She was a series regular until 2016, and since then, she made occasional guest appearances on the show. Fans flooded her post with messages of love and support, many expressing their sadness about her exit and speculating whether it was her decision to leave.

“Brooklyn, I enjoyed watching you as Emma for all these years,” one fan wrote. “You are a shining star! You will always be remembered as Emma. Much love and luck in all your future endeavors. You will be missed ❤️.” Another fan added, “You ARE Emma to us. I’m hoping this was your choice. If so, best of everything to you in your future.”

Silzer’s departure comes amid a year of change for General Hospital, with several other longtime cast members also leaving the show. Michael Easton, Kelly Monaco, and Chad Duell all wrapped up their time on the soap in 2024. Easton, who appeared in over 900 episodes, bid farewell to the show in June, sharing a touching message with fans on social media. “I’ve loved every minute that I’ve been here,” he said. “Most importantly, I want to thank all of you for the kindness and love you’ve shown me and my family.”

Monaco, who portrayed Sam McCall for 21 years, also made headlines in October when she said goodbye to GH. Though her departure was not her choice, Monaco expressed her frustration with how her character was treated following the exit of Billy Miller, who played her love interest, Drew. In a since-deleted post, Monaco hinted at her dissatisfaction with how the show had changed Sam’s character, calling it “retaliation at its finest.”

As for Silzer, her fans are eager to see what’s next for her and are hopeful that Emma’s legacy will continue to thrive on General Hospital.
