Britain’s Got Talent viewers were left complaining over an act that seem to be ‘already famous’ after last night’s auditions.
K-pop boyband Blitzers were seen taking to the stage in Saturday night’s episode in front of judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, and Bruno Tonioli. The South Korean group, who formed in 2021, told the panel that they have a “lot of fans” back home in South Korea but they want to be famous in the UK as well.
Dressed in all-white outfits, Blitzers impressed the judges and the audience with a slick rendition of the Shawn Mendes hit There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back. The group earned a standing ovation and secured four yeses to advance in the competition.
Head judge Simon said he “really loved” it, while Bruno told them: “The presentation, every level of it is as good as anything I’ve seen around the world in the last 50 years.” But viewers sat at home were left annoyed after realising the band already had a significant fanbase, the Mirror reports.
Blitzers boast an impressive 464,000 followers on Instagram and won the Focus Award at the Asia Artist Awards in 2021. They also took home the Rising Star award at the K-Global Heart Dream Awards in 2022.
Fans took to social media platform X, with one commenting: “That K-Pop group have nearly half a million followers on Instagram. They’re hardly unknown, are they?” Another disgruntled viewer wrote: “Why are @itv just feeding us acts already doing well… BLITZER K-POP ‘already signed’ and have YouTube videos with 33/45 MILLION VIEWS! Won Asian Artist Award – formed by Wuzo Entertainment in 2021!”
Another commented: “K-pop band with 464,000 Instagram followers. Why do they need #bgt when they’re already famous? Slick but still.” A fourth person asked: “Why is a K-Pop professional boy band from South Korea allowed to compete? #BGT #BritainsGotTalent.”
Later on in the show, judge Bruno pressed the golden buzzer for a second time this series, leaving fans annoyed at his apparent ‘rule breaking’. Judges are only supposed to send one act straight through to the final, but now both Bruno and Amanda have pressed the buzzer twice.
Dance group the Phoenix Boys wowed the audience with their acrobatic display, performing backflips, pirouettes and split leaps to Sam Ryder’s track Tiny Riot. Bruno was so impressed by the boys, all aged between nine and 19, he decided they deserved to go through.
But viewers at home pointed out that another act had been overlooked, despite their ‘pure talent’. The Messoudi Brothers set pulses racing as they stripped down to their underwear while showing off their impressive juggling skills and then getting completely redressed without dropping any of their clubs. “See these are the sorta acts that deserve a Golden Buzzer in my opinion… just pure talent… but alas,” one viewer wrote.
