BLUE BLOODS TO END WITH SEASON 14: ‘HEARTFELT GRATITUDE TO THE FANS’

BLUE BLOODS will be coming to an end with the upcoming 14th season of the popular police drama.

“BLUE BLOODS will forever be a beloved part of CBS’s legacy,” said Amy Reisenbach, the president of CBS Entertainment, and David Stapf, president of CBS Studios, in a joint statement. “It ruled Friday nights with unprecedented dominance since its premiere and established itself as a pillar of our winning lineup with an exceptionally devoted fan base.”

Star Tom Selleck also released a statement, saying, “For the past 13 years it has been an honor and a privilege to work on a show that not only celebrates the men and women who protect and serve in New York City, but also displayed the importance of family,”

“Working alongside these incredible actors, writers, producers, directors and crew has been a dream come true and I’m grateful to have been a part of this extraordinary group for over 275 episodes,” he continued. “Thank you to CBS Studios and CBS Network for their steadfast support and we offer heartfelt gratitude to the fans who gathered with us for dinner every Friday night.”

Season 14 of BLUE BLOODS will be broken into two parts and include 18 episodes total.

“The first 10 will air this coming midseason, premiering on CBS Feb. 16 and streaming live on Paramount+; the remaining 8 will run in fall 2024,” per MSN.

The show has ranked in the top 10 in streaming series for both Paramount+ and Pluto TV and has reported strong numbers on Netflix, CBS and in syndication.

“We’ll be forever grateful to the legendary Leonard Goldberg for developing this signature series and to the amazing cast led by Tom Selleck, who America embraced as family and watched as welcomed guests at the Reagan dinner table,” Reisenbach and Stapf’s statement continued. “We also sincerely thank the incredible writing and producing teams guided by executive producer Kevin Wade, for years of compelling episodes as they conceive this final chapter that we expect to be the most satisfying season yet for our loyal viewers.”

News of BLUE BLOODS’ ending comes after prolonged budget negotiations took place before the Season 14 renewal. Movieguide® previously reported:

BLUE BLOODS has officially been renewed for its 14th season after the cast and crew agreed to a 25 percent pay cut.

The Hollywood Reporter reports, “the stars and key producers all agreed to the pay reduction in order to keep the Friday night cop drama running and keep the hundreds of production staffers employed for another season.”

The renewal makes BLUE BLOODS the network’s second-longest-running current scripted series after NCIS, which was recently renewed for its 21st season.
