A 9-1-1 cast member is hitting the high seas, thanks to a surprise announcement ABC made involving another of its popular TV shows.
Folks were shocked to learn that two of the network’s series will be joining forces on one night. According to a report from Variety published on February 21, 9-1-1 and Doctor Odyssey will premiere a special crossover episode sometime in March 2025. And if that wasn’t enough, the outlet shared that folks can see two key characters pop up and take center stage in the installment: Athena Grant Nash (Angela Bassett) from 9-1-1 and Dr. Max Bankman (Joshua Jackson) from Doctor Odyssey.
Shortly after the news broke online, it wasn’t long before 9-1-1 confirmed the announcement with a screenshot from the Variety article on Instagram.
“9-1-1 x Doctor Odyssey Crossover Event: Sailing onto your screens soon,” the caption read.
When viewers of both 9-1-1 and Doctor Odyssey learned of the exciting TV moment, they immediately began screaming about it in the comments.
“The crossover we didn’t know we needed 💕💕,” one person wrote. “EXCUSE ME? I’VE NEVER BEEN MORE READY FOR A CROSSOVER,” another screamed. “Omg this is nuts hahaha I can’t wait!” a different follower added.
Now, what can fans expect from a crossover episode between shows as big as 9-1-1 and Doctor Odyssey? According to Deadline, the installment will take place on the cruise ship the Odyssey, where Athena becomes an unexpected guest during the boat’s casino-themed week. When she suspects two guests are looking to steal from the ship’s vault, she enlists Max to help her solve the case. But as the outlet writes, Athena’s attempt to save the day “raises the stakes in a dangerous game where not everyone will end up with a winning hand.”
It’s also important to note this news comes before both shows air the latter half of episodes for their respective seasons. Doctor Odyssey is in the middle of its maiden voyage (a.k.a. season 1) on TV, while 9-1-1 is gaining traction with its season 8 episodes.
