Grey’s Anatomy season 21 is racing toward the finish line, and it seems ABC’s long-running medical drama has a few tricks still up its sleeve this season to keep fans entertained!
The penultimate episode of the season will celebrate the love of one of the show’s greatest couples as Jo and Link’s wedding day finally arrives! It’s a day that has been seasons in the making, and I for one cannot wait to see the pair get to celebrate their love in what I’m certain will be an unforgettable wedding event!
Like many fans, I too was worried when Jo initially suggested wanting a small courtroom wedding, as I feared the writers were going to cheat us out of a proper celebration for Jo and Link. Thankfully, that is not going to be the case as ABC has already begun teasing it as being “the next great Grey’s Anatomy wedding.”
As Jo and Link prepare to celebrate their love, it seems only fitting that those most important to the pair are a part of their special day. This includes Jo’s longtime friend and former roommate, Levi, who will be returning to town for his best friend’s wedding, and we couldn’t be happier!
Jake Borelli will be making his way back to Seattle for his first appearance on the show since departing as a series regular earlier this season. In the seventh episode of season 21, “If You Leave,” Levi said goodbye to Grey Sloan to pursue a peds research position in Texas. The departure brought an end to Borelli’s eight-season run as a series regular, but thankfully, he left in a way that kept the door open for a possible return, which fans will finally be getting in the penultimate episode of season 21.
After briefly teasing Borelli’s return in the promo for the episode, ABC has offered up our first look at Levi’s return via a pair of new photos from the episode.
We see Levi clearly giving his bestie a pep talk or reality check of some sort as we see Jo staring into the distance with a concerned look on her face. Could our bride be getting some pre-wedding jitters? Whatever might have Jo feeling uncertain or overwhelmed, we’re happy to know Levi is going to be on hand for support and ensure her special day goes off without a hitch.
Could it be that he and James, Grey Sloan’s former chaplain, who made the move to Texas with Levi earlier this season, have adopted a dog and become dog dads? It certainly seems to be the case, and we hope the episode indeed gives us an update on how things have been going with James, even if we don’t get to see him on-screen in the episode!
We loved seeing James and Levi’s relationship begin to blossom earlier this season and hope that it has only further bloomed since the pair left town, as we’re rooting for the couple and pulling for James to be endgame for Levi!
As we gear up for what is sure to be a stressful finale, we’re excited to get some lighter moments in the penultimate episode in the form of Levi’s return and Jo and Link’s wedding before things hit the fan and yet another natural disaster strikes at Grey Sloan.
