America’s Got Talent fans furious as Terry Crews confirms major rule change

America’s Got Talent fans were left fuming as host Terry Crews announced a shocking format change during the latest episode of the NBC show

Terry Crews, the host of America’s Got Talent, has dropped a bombshell about a significant change to the show that has left fans less than thrilled.

The current season of AGT kicked off on May 28, with judges Simon Cowell, Sofia Vergara, Howie Mandel, and Heidi Klum scouring the globe for talent.

Crews announced on Tuesday during a two-hour special which concluded Season 19’s auditions that AGT will be pausing for the Paris Olympics.

Wrapping up the episode, Crews made a declaration that has riled up fans, revealing that the controversial Golden Buzzer will become a major feature in the live shows.

“For the first time ever in America’s Got Talent history, the Golden Buzzer is about to go live,” declared the 55 year old host.

“One more from each judge will send acts straight to the finals. This summer, anything can happen,” he continued.

Viewers have slammed the “desperate” move to incorporate Golden Buzzers in such a manner as nonsensical.

“That’s even worse than judge’s cut golden buzzers,” one viewer commented. “Like live shows are for the audience to vote, not judges.”

“I don’t like the golden buzzer. It’s never truly been about talent,” another voiced their displeasure. “I have seen the judges basically force guest celeb judges to give it to who they wanted. This is just telling the fans ‘We don’t like who you vote for’,” they concluded.

“If someone asks you to describe to them what #AGT is if they’ve never seen it your only option would be to say ‘oh it’s just a show about acrobats where 4 people press a buzzer that makes it rain gold confetti’,” a third comment read.

A fourth fumed: “Such a desperate attempt to generate something new because a live show golden buzzer makes zero sense. #AGT.”

“#AGT A golden buzzer for the lives? ? Nah they have to be trolling [crying emoji],” another user slammed.

The Golden Buzzer debuted in Season 9, giving judges the option of sending acts directly through to the live shows.

The show has allotted for nine total Golden Buzzers which led to a surprising rule change from Simon Cowell, who used his two in the same episode.

And while some acts have impressed viewers because they think they were deserving, others are getting annoyed by the show’s handing them out to several non-American acts… and the sheer number in general.

The judges are able to give out two each this season, while host Terry Crews gets one.

Six of nine Buzzers have already been handed out throughout Season 19.

Cowell has used up all of his while Crews also gave up his. Sofia Vergara, Heidi Klum and Howie Mandel each have one remaining.

Fans have shared on Reddit that they feel the honor of the buzzers has been cheapened though with so many up for grabs.

“It gives them more clips to put online of ‘golden buzzer winners,'” one wrote. “The increase has greatly diminished the value of it.”
