ABC Renews ‘Will Trent’ for Season 4 with 18 New Episodes
ABC has officially renewed its breakout police procedural Will Trent for a fourth season, with sources confirming the upcoming season will include 18 episodes. The renewal is part of a larger slate of returning series, signaling strong confidence from the network in Will Trent’s continued success.
Starring Ramón Rodríguez as Special Agent Will Trent of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, the series has steadily grown in both critical acclaim and audience numbers. Known for its compelling storytelling, emotional depth, and standout performances, Will Trent has quietly become one of ABC’s top-performing dramas, recently earning the title of most-watched scripted series in linear Live+Same Day viewing on the network.
Based on Karin Slaughter’s New York Times bestselling book series, Will Trent follows a GBI agent who, after surviving a troubled upbringing in Atlanta’s foster care system, now boasts one of the highest clearance rates in the bureau. His unique perspective on justice—and his unorthodox methods—have earned him a devoted fan base, along with his scene-stealing dog, Betty.
The current season (Season 3) introduced several new faces, including Gina Rodriguez as Marion Alba, Will’s new romantic interest, and Scott Foley as Seth McDale, a new figure in Angie’s life following her complicated history with Will. Returning cast members include Erika Christensen as Angie Polaski, Iantha Richardson as Faith Mitchell, Jake McLaughlin as Michael Ormewood, and Sonja Sohn as Amanda Wagner.
Will Trent airs Tuesdays on ABC and streams the following day on Hulu.
The show is executive produced by Liz Heldens, Daniel Thomsen, Karin Slaughter, Oly Obst, Howard Deutch, Ellen Marie Blum, and Ramón Rodríguez himself. Heldens and Thomsen also serve as showrunners. The series is produced by 20th Television.
Will Trent joins a strong lineup of ABC renewals this season, including 9-1-1 (Season 9), Grey’s Anatomy (Season 22), The Rookie (Season 8), Shifting Gears (Season 2), and Abbott Elementary (Season 5).
