ABC’s Will Trent Renewed for Season 4 with 18 Episodes
ABC has officially renewed its hit crime drama Will Trent for a fourth season, which will feature 18 episodes. The series, based on Karin Slaughter’s bestselling book series, follows Ramón Rodríguez as Will Trent, a detective from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) with a complicated past. The show, which first premiered in January 2023, also stars Erika Christensen, Iantha Richardson, Jake McLaughlin, and Sonja Sohn in prominent roles.
The Season 3 premiere, which aired in January 2025, was a major success, attracting 9.75 million viewers across ABC, Hulu, Disney+, and other platforms. This strong performance solidified Will Trent as one of ABC’s top-performing shows, earning the distinction of being the network’s most-watched scripted series based on live viewership, surpassing even 9-1-1.
In addition to Will Trent, ABC has renewed several other fan-favorite shows for its 2025-26 primetime lineup, including Grey’s Anatomy, The Rookie, Abbott Elementary, and High Potential.
Ariana Madix Joins Will Trent for a Steamy Guest Appearance
Will Trent’s Season 3 has also seen guest stars like Vanderpump Rules alum Ariana Madix. In Episode 8, which aired on February 25, 2025, Madix plays a heightened version of herself in a memorable scene with Jake McLaughlin’s Detective Ormewood. The two recreate a famous moment from The Bodyguard, with Ormewood carrying Madix to safety after a thrilling dance.
Madix shared her excitement about the scene in an interview, revealing how the actors drew inspiration from the 1992 thriller starring Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston to get it just right. The chemistry between Madix and McLaughlin extends to a passionate kiss at the end of the episode, which Madix described as the first scene she filmed on set. Despite the high-stakes moment, she was reassured by McLaughlin’s supportive attitude and believes the ending leaves the door open for a potential return.
New episodes of Will Trent Season 3 are airing every Tuesday on ABC, with episodes available for streaming on Hulu and Disney+.
