A New Reality Show Could Be the Answer To Kim Zolciak’s Problems

Kim Zolciak made a name for herself on reality TV alongside a million-dollar fortune. But given her current circumstances, it may be time to go back to her roots. She rose to fame on The Real Housewives of Atlanta as part of the first season’s cast in 2008. Her glamorous lifestyle and fiery personality made her a fan favorite, while her relationship with NFL star Kroy Biermann was also a huge storyline. The family eventually landed their own reality show, Don’t Be Tardy, in 2012, giving fans a closer look at the couple’s life with their six kids. The series eventually came to an end in 2020, but the drama didn’t stop there.

While Kim has stepped away from reality TV in recent years, her personal drama and money problems suggest it may be time for a return. There have been plenty of reasons Kim has been making headlines in recent years, from her seven-figure IRS debt to her on-and-off divorce proceedings with Kroy. While it may seem like a bad idea to sign up for a show to expose all of her family’s personal problems on TV, the pay check and opportunities another reality show could offer may be exactly what Kim needs to save her career and personal life – here’s why.

Kim’s Dramatic Life Makes for Perfect Content

Kim is currently dealing with a huge mess of personal problems that would make for great reality TV plot lines. Her long-time marriage to Kroy seems officially over. He first filed for divorce in 2023, though he stopped the proceedings for a brief moment when it seems Kroy and Kim were reconciling. However, as of earlier this year, the divorce is back on track, though the pair haven’t finalized anything. Recently, Kim and Kroy were photographed moving out of their Georgia mansion, which has gone into foreclosure after years of stalling. The exes lived in the mansion together with their kids despite the divorce proceedings and multiple domestic violence calls. The volatile divorce and escalating tensions would undoubtedly draw viewers in.

The former couple’s relationship has likely been strained by their financial troubles, which go beyond their mansion’s foreclosure. Kim and Kroy apparently owe over $1 million to the IRS in unpaid taxes. Kim is also the subject of various lawsuits over unpaid credit card bills and a repossessed vehicle. While their Georgia mansion was initially listed for $6 million, they slashed the asking price in half in a desperate bid to offload the property. However, the mansion was put up for auction earlier this month when it failed to sell.

Kim Needs the Paycheck and Exposure

It would be a smart move for Kim to leverage her popularity to land a new reality show, whether she joins an existing series (like The Real Housewives franchise) or gets a new show altogether. A show that follows her adjusting to single life while raising six kids, or having to get used to a less glamorous lifestyle due to her money problems would make for interesting content. Kim still has a dedicated fan base that is likely to tune in if the show promises juicy details.

Moreover, a show could be the answer to many of Kim’s money problems. Though she once had a net worth of $3 million, it’s likely lower int he wake of all of her financial problems and mounting debts. Kroy’s net worth was estimated to be $300,000 after retiring from the NFL, but it’s also likely lower due to his family’s situation. At the peak of her TV career, Kim apparently made nearly $1 million a season for Don’t Be Tardy and upwards of $600,000 per episode on RHOA. Another show would give the family a new source of income, giving Kim the means to rebuild her finances and career.

To be fair, securing a new reality show isn’t easy (even if the Kardashians made it look that way with their $100 million Hulu deal). While Kim may still have industry contacts, networks may be hesitant to take a chance on a family dealing with controversy and financial turmoil. The Zolciak-Biermanns need to be willing to air all their dirty laundry and be prepared for public backlash, which could feel humiliating given their situation. But the payoff could be worth it – literally. A show would bring in much-needed income and also help re-establish Kim’s relevance in pop culture, which can bring with it a host of other opportunities, including financial ones.
