The SAG Awards are certainly not the most popular entertainment ceremonies for film, television and celebrity lovers to watch. But this year, an unexpected interaction between exes Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston was all anyone could talk about.
Both Pitt and Aniston took home awards for their work in “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” and “Morning Show” respectively but during the event, the former couple were spotted chatting. Everyone couldn’t help put point out how close and comfortable they look with each other.
The “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” actor was even caught on camera watching Aniston’s acceptance speech with a big grin, prompting questions about whether the two could be rekindling their relationship.
Although both the actors have denied any romantic connection, some experts say the love is clearly still there.
“There’s no question, they look just like they loved each other back in the day,” body language expert Dr. Lillian Glass told Yahoo Canada. “He grabbed her hand, first he held her hand then he kind of grabbed her towards him and they obviously still have feelings for each other.”
“They have eye-to-eye contact, so they’re both looking in each other’s eyes, they’re both very, very connected.”
According to body language expert Blanca Cobb, it’s the touches that are causing the interaction between the two to get such widespread attention, but this may not be indicative of a romantic relationship, it could be that they “didn’t want the celebratory moment to end.”
“Touch shows that you feel close and connected to someone and can be a sign of affection. But, touch doesn’t necessarily mean that there’s a romantic connection,” Cobb told Yahoo Canada. “What’s interesting about Jennifer and Brad’s touches is that they lingered.”
“As she turned to walk away from him, her hand was still on his chest and his hand wrapped around her wrist. The longer you touch, the closer you tend to feel to that person.”
But when Pitt watches Aniston accept the award for outstanding performance by a female actor in a drama series, Dr. Glass identifies that you can see his affection for her.
“He’s watching back on the monitor and he’s smiling, and he’s laughing,” Glass said. “He’s very touched by her.”
“Time will tell if there’s a romantic connection between the two,” Cobb said.
The couple’s history
Pitt and Aniston began dating in 1998, making their debut as a public couple at the 1999 Emmy Awards. They got married in 2000 in Malibu, California, complete with fireworks to end the extravagant night. In 2004, Pitt and Angelina Jolie worked together in the film “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” and rumours started the swirl that the two were more than co-stars.
In 2005, the couple officially split and Aniston made a famous statement saying her ex-husband is missing a “sensitivity chip.” Pitt went on to marry Jolie in 2014 and Aniston married actor Justin Theroux in 2015. Both stars are now believed to be single.
Fans freak out
It’s not surprising that the images of Pitt and Aniston immediately caused a social media frenzy, with some people “shipping” the couple, while others think she should stay away from her ex and move on.
