Selena Gomez revealed she is now engaged to boyfriend Benny Blanco after a year and a half of dating – but one offer of congratulations has raised eyebrows.
Gomez, 32, shared the news in a gushing post to Instagram, which was flooded with well wishes from some of Hollywood’s biggest names.
However, one celebratory post from British chef Gordon Ramsay, 58, has many fans convinced he was throwing shade at the happy couple.
‘Congratulations to you both, it must be the food,’ the celebrity cook wrote on the Instagram post, followed by a series of love heart emojis.
Social media users couldn’t help but react the potentially shady comment – many thinking Ramsay was hinting at Blanco not being as attractive as Gomez.
‘Gordon Ramsay shady af he said it’s not the face so it must be the food,’ one user posted to X, formerly known as Twitter, along with a screenshot of the comment.
‘Gordon Ramsay will always keep it real I’m crying,’ another added.
‘He said what we couldn’t,’ cheered someone else
‘Gordon Ramsay throwing shade while lowkey roasting the food AND the situation lol…’ another chimed in.
Others defended Ramsay’s comments, saying it must be in relation to Gomez’s cooking show Selena + Chef, which launched in 2020.
‘I think he’s saying that because she had a cooking show and he appeared on it. That’s what he’s talking about!’ they insisted.
In January, the actress and chef appeared together in a clip shared to Ramsay’s YouTube account, where the duo were seen preparing breakfast together in Gomez’s kitchen.
The singer revealed the news on Instagram on Wednesday night, sharing the first photos of her massive diamond engagement ring with her 422 million followers.
‘Forever begins now…’ captioned the Who Said singer.
Blanco left a cheeky comment in which he referred to Gomez as his ‘wife.’
‘Hey wait… that’s my wife,’ wrote the musician, under the post.
