Mondays are never going to be the same again. NCIS is taking a long break from new episodes, and when it returns, it won’t be on Monday nights. There is some great news that comes with this change, though!
That’s right; there are no more new episodes of NCIS season 22. While there is a 23rd season confirmed, we have to wait, as we’re now into the summer hiatus. That means a long break to get answers about what happened to Parker’s dad and whether he’ll get justice. We also still need answers about Lily!
NCIS season 23 will premiere in fall 2025
CBS has now revealed its fall schedule for the 2025–2026 TV season. In fact, it’s released the schedule for the entire TV season, already setting the schedule for winter and spring. We just don’t have any exact dates yet.
What we do know is that NCIS season 23 will premiere in fall 2025. That shouldn’t be too surprising considering how well the series continues to perform. Despite going up against Monday Night Football for the last few years and losing Mark Harmon, it’s remained steady enough in the linear ratings.
While we don’t have premiere dates just yet (we’ll get them in June or July), we can take a guess at when the show is likely to return. We’re looking at late September 2025 at the earliest, but we could see CBS hold shows for October as it did this TV season.
NCIS is on the move in the CBS schedule
When it does return, it will not be on Monday nights. Oh no, CBS is righting a wrong from a few years ago, with NCIS returning to its Tuesday night at 8/7c timeslot. I can hear the cheers around the world!
On top of that, we’re getting a full NCIS Night on Tuesdays. Not only will NCIS: Origins move to Tuesdays with it, but NCIS: Sydney is also moving to the fall. I’ll admit that this was a surprise to me, but maybe it will work well with the rest of the franchise, and it opens the door for crossovers.
Wait, what about the FBI shows? Well, as you’ll know, FBI: International and FBI: Most Wanted have been canceled. CIA has been picked up, so it and FBI will air on Mondays, with FBI airing at 9 p.m. ET/PT, in the current NCIS timeslot. It seems like a fair trade since it was the FBIs that kicked NCIS out of its timeslot.
