
A Closer Look
The young brother of actor/director Ron Howard, Clint Howard made his acting debut at age two on The Andy Griffith Show, (CBS, 1960-1968), and later starred alongside Dennis Weaver and a big bear in beloved small-screen classic Gentle Ben (NBC, 1967-1969) with several other roles in before, between and beyond. Those include guest appearances on TV detective shows like the heralded series, The Streets of San Francisco, and various blockbuster, art-house, and cult horror films. He’s also appeared in comedy films as a voiceover for various roles in Disney movies, and a classic episode of Seinfeld.
Clint has the unique distinction of appearing on five different Star Trek shows including episodes of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, Star Trek: Discovery, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Enterprise, and Star Trek: The Original Series.
Clint has portrayed a diverse number of roles through the decades in movies like Apollo 13, The Waterboy, The Rocketeer, Tango and Cash, and Disney’s The Jungle Book, among many more.
He even reprised his famed original Star Trek character, “Balok,” for a satiric moment during Comedy Central’s Roast of William Shatner.
All the while, Clint has enjoyed an everyday life beyond the Hollywood spotlight.
Behind the Scenes
Clint Howard was born on April 20, 1959, in Burbank, CA. In 1977, he graduated from John Burroughs High School in Burbank where he was a pitcher on the varsity baseball team The Indians, and correspondent and photographer for the school newspaper The Smoke Signal.
One of his articles earned him the Pepperdine University High School journalism award for page design. The accolade included automatic admission to the university and one year’s paid tuition.
Over the years, he enjoyed golf and played an annual 150 rounds before hip replacement surgery changed that routine. In his free time, and when not acting, he manufactures globes.
As fate would have, it, Clint shares a birthday with Star Trek icon George Takei whom he appeared with in the legendary episode, “The Corbomite Maneuver.”
