Jamie Dornan Reveals How Andrew Garfield’s “Annoying” Talent Left Him Stunned After Beating a Stunt Double

Andrew Garfield is one of the most desirable men in Hollywood whose talents know no bounds and Jamie Dornan knows this all too well. Whether he is swinging through the streets as the amazing Spider-Man or making us absolutely bawl as We Live in Time‘s Tobias, the actor really knows how to make a lasting impression in people’s lives.

However, if the multiverse is real, then there is probably a universe where Andrew Garfield never tried his hand at acting and ended up becoming a fantastic athlete instead. He always had a special talent when it came to sports and while it’s absolutely impressive, Jamie Dornan couldn’t help but get a little annoyed with it all.

Andrew Garfield was en route to becoming the next best athlete planet Earth had ever seen but fate obviously had bigger plans for him. He was a gifted gymnast and as per Esquire, was so good at what he did that sometimes a Russian coach would sit on his back while young Garfield performed perfect splits.

Garfield once revealed that he was brought up in a “sports household” where things would get very “competitive” with his older brothers. Growing up, he participated in gymnastics, swimming, rugby, cricket, and football. Clearly, he had his work cut out for him.

But when Garfield turned twelve, he realized that “This is not childhood” and he quit gymnastics, going against his father. His father, Richard Garfield, probably was not fine with this act of rebellion from his son as success and gold medals were his priorities at the moment.

Talking to Esquire, Garfield says that quitting gymnastics was “the first rebellion against my dad and his value system at the time: success and gold medals above any sense of joy, comfort, or pleasure.“

After gymnastics, he dipped his toes into the turbulent waters of swimming where his talents left everyone’s jaws on the floor.

How Andrew Garfield’s Skills Ended Up Annoying Jamie Dornan

After Andrew Garfield quit gymnastics, he found himself another sport to obsess over – swimming. His father had become a successful swimming coach causing Garfield to give it a go himself. Needless to say, he became very good at it. As his father said, “Everything he touches he’s very talented at.”

Tick, Tick… Boom! ‘s director Lin-Manuel Miranda vouches for Garfield’s talents as a swimmer. As per Esquire, he deemed his lead actor “The Michael Phelps of Hollywood” after shooting a swimming scene in the musical. Garfield ended up being faster than his stunt double proving that he was absolutely worthy of Miranda’s nickname.

His friend and actor, Jamie Dornan, talked about Garfield’s exceptional skills in skateboarding, surfing, and basketball. He didn’t keep his honest opinion under wraps, as he stated how “annoying” it was that Garfield was so good at so many sports.

It’s really annoying how Andrew is great at all these strange sports that Irish people like myself are not good at
