Despite sharing many years of friendship, Jennifer Aniston was reportedly forced to cut ties with one controversial comedian over their differing lifestyles.
After being friends for well over a decade, Jennifer and Chelsea Handler’s friendship has reportedly grown apart due to the actresses’ concerns with privacy and interesting in leading a quieter life. After being snapped at a number of public events together over the years, including the 2024 Critics Choice Awards, the Friends star is now allegedly trying to keep her distance.
This week an insider told The Daily Mail: “Jen wants to be more private, while Chelsea wants to be front and center, so perhaps a breakdown was always inevitable.”
The pair first sparked their friendship back in 2009, when the Friends actress guest starred on Chelsea’s late-night talk show ‘Chelsea Lately.’ The source said: “They jumped into their friendship headfirst and went from not knowing each other to being together 24/7.”
After bonding over their similar sense of humor, the two went on to build a close friendship, going on girls’ trips, hanging out at award shows, and attending parties. But after a few bumps in the road, Jennifer is reportedly cutting ties with the comedian.
The animosity between the two reportedly started to brew when the comedian fired off a number of brutal jokes at Angelia Jolie following reports that Jennifer’s ex-husband, Brad Pitt, cheated on her with the actress. And while the Just Go With It star was fine with the cracks at first, she soon grew tired of the jokes and wanted to leave their feud in the past.
And while Jennifer had already moved on, Chelsea continued to take aim at Angelina in her stand-up comedy sets, including after the news broke that she and Brad were headed for divorce. In one scathing joke aimed at The Tourist star, Chelsea said: “There are rumors that part of the problem was that Brad was allegedly drinking and smoking too much weed. I wonder why he would need to self-medicate.”
