General Hospital Stars Reveal Their Top Moments from the Past Year!

Various actors opened up about their favorite moments since last April and the show’s excellent stunt work was at the top of the list.
One might think it’s odd to reflect on the prior year when New Year’s Day was four months ago. However, in General Hospital’s case, it’s much warranted since the show debuted on April 1, 1963, so reflecting on the past year makes sense. The show shared a video online with several of its stars opening up about what stood out to them since the 61st anniversary.
Stunts Topped the List
On GH’s official YouTube page, a video titled Year in Review was posted. It began with the question: “What was your favorite General Hospital moment this year?” Finola Hughes (Anna) found it hard to pick a favorite, but later, she remarked that she enjoyed doing stunts and noted that “The stunts in Africa were, like, really amazing, like the big fireball that we did outside.”
Steve Burton (Jason) enthused, “For me, it’s the explosion of Sonny’s penthouse. It’s always fun to do stunts. The fire was amazing, the special effects guys were awesome…the rafters were falling down.” Maurice Benard (Sonny) added to that by explaining that in his 31 years on the show, the explosion at Sonny’s was “Probably the best or one of the best stunts I have seen.”
Mind-Blowing and Exhilarating
GH icon Genie Francis (Laura) gushed, “Having Jonathan Jackson [Lucky] return,” adding, “It’s just been dreamy.” Smiling from ear to ear, Giovanni Mazza (Gio) explained, “One of my favorite scenes that I think I’ve ever done was working with Sarah Sherman.” They showed a clip of her cameo on the show, and Mazza explained he liked seeing her on SNL. “It felt so cool. And she was just so funny.”
Carlo Rota (Sidwell) explained, “As you know, I am a complete newbie to the show, so my favorite moments were when I first stepped onto the set. It was just a revelation. I’d never done a show like this before. And the complexity of it, the speed of it [chuckles], it was mind-blowing and exhilarating.” Amanda Setton stated that the wedding of her character Brook Lynn to Chase (Josh Swickard) was a “Moving, loving, beautiful, beautiful three-day event, and I felt so honored and grateful to be a part of it.”
It Was a Good Year
Laura Wright (Carly) chimed in, stating she felt Burton’s return was great. Even Chad Duell, whose character Michael was the victim of the fiery explosion, stated, “How much love and attention went into the makeup team to get that. [It looked] so good. It looks so real, and they’re so proud of it, and I hope they do win an Emmy for that. It wasn’t the most fun getting into it [the prosthetics], but when I saw it afterward, I was like, ‘These guys, they killed it.’ ”

Kristina Wagner (Felicia) explained that when she got to work and saw John J. York (Mac) there after recovering from his health issues, “It was the best day of my year. Of my whole year.” She had tears in her eyes, and York hugged her. Wagner finished off by stating that it was “A really good year for us.” She looked at York and added, “A really good year for you,” and he agreed that it was.
