Cameron Mathison is using social media for an important mission. He wants to recover the photos lost from the wildfires.
Cameron Mathison is recruiting General Hospital fans and his inner circle to help him out. The soap star lost his home in the devastating Los Angeles wildfires and is not the only one. Thousands of residents in the Palisades and the surrounding areas have lost their homes, and it could take years for them to recover.
Missing Memories
What Mathison mostly lost were material things. But he still holds onto the memories. On Sunday, March 9, he took to Instagram with an important mission. He asked GH fans if they could help him “rebuild a lifetime of memories lost.” This could be the mission of a lifetime.
It can be hard to get those memories back. The wildfires destroyed homes, buildings, and structures in L.A. Mathison was among the first group of celebrities to announce that he had lost his house. The wildfires impacted many other soap stars, including The Young and the Restless star Eric Braeden. (Find out Braeden’s plans to rebuild.)
Mathison could only bring a few items with him. He quickly gathered up some of their belongings before evacuating. Mathison shared the home with his ex-wife, Vanessa. The exes raised their two kids, Lucas, 21, and Leila, 18. Unfortunately, most of their family photos are gone.
“Dear friends. I’m on a mission to rebuild a lifetime of memories that were lost in the fire—please share any PHOTOS you have of me and the family from over the years,” Mathison shared in his video. “I’d be so grateful if you could pass this request along to anyone else who knows me so I can get back together the moments that mean so much!”
Desperate Plea
In the clip he posted on Instagram, Mathison shared that he was in London, where his son Lucas resides. He came up with the idea of using Instagram to ask fans for mementos and photos of him with his family. Mathison made the following plea: “I came up with the idea to reach out via Instagram to ask anybody who’s known me throughout my life: if you have any photos from elementary school, middle school, high school, or college.”
Mathison also requested photos from his modeling heydey and time on All My Children. He hopes friends and family will see this video and help him. The actor also wants baby photos of his children if anybody has them. Those are hard to recover, but Mathison is willing to make it happen.
“It would mean so much to me. We lost all of that, and we did in the fire — Vanessa, Lucas, Leila, and I,” Mathison shared. “I know Vanessa’s been talking to people and her friends, accumulating some, and Lucas and Leila are working on those. But I thought I’d make a little reach out on Instagram for myself. It would mean so much to me.”
Fans shared their support in the comment section, and he also received support from friends and fellow support stars. This is going to involve a major effort. Hopefully, Mathison and his family will be able to recover some of those lost precious memories. Find out how Mathison is moving toward the next chapter in his life.
