At this point, it wouldn’t be unreasonable to refer to writer/producer Taylor Sheridan as cable and streaming TV’s answer to Dick Wolf. With Yellowstone, 1883, and 1923, Sheridan has built up a Western-themed franchise on par with Wolf’s Chicago franchise. Part of the reason for the franchise’s success has been the way it’s attracted top-tier talent to the small screen, like Kevin Costner, Helen Mirren, and Harrison Ford.
