Gio’s bio parents are about to be revealed. Does Sonny already know?
The big General Hospital secret is about to be revealed! Gio is Dante and Brook Lynn’s son. Is Lois the only one who knew the truth, or is Sonny in on the secret?
Bensonhurst Buddies
Lois (Rena Sofer), Sonny (Maurice Benard), and Olivia (Lisa LoCicero) all grew up together in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, and have an unbreakable bond. The next generation, Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) and Dante (Dominic Zamprogna), followed in their footsteps.
They may be close, but secrets have popped up through the years. The biggest surprise was when Sonny found out that Dante was really his son (after he shot him). Olivia kept the two apart for years because his dad’s life was too dangerous. Now, they have a great father-son relationship.
Lois and Sonny have always told each other everything. She is often the only person who can get through to him. Now she is holding the biggest secret of her life, which makes her and her friend grandparents of the same child.
The Grandfather Clause
The story is that Brook Lynn and Dante had a relationship in camp, and Brook Lynn got pregnant. It doesn’t make sense for many reasons, but we will go with it. BLQ only told her mom, who claimed to have arranged to give the baby up for adoption. She actually gave him to friends in the neighborhood. Both parents eventually passed away, and the baby is now a grown-up Gio (Giovanni Mazza) and is living at the Quartermaines.
It seems like Lois is the only one who knows the truth, but then there’s Sonny. He has been mysteriously supporting Gio for years, and the violinist calls him “Uncle Sonny,” just like Brook Lynn does. The mob boss could not have known all along that he was “Grandpa Sonny” to Gio because he didn’t know Dante was his son. But he may have known that BLQ was Gio’s birth mom without knowing who the dad was and was keeping the secret for Lois. She also may have later told him the truth about Dante being the father. Confusing? Yes!
Sonny has many faults, but he is generous. It would make sense that he would help Lois support Gio and his adopted family, whether or not he knew the secret or part of it.
