BTG is a new soap that you absolutely don’t want to miss!
By now, you probably know that Beyond The Gates premieres on CBS on Monday, February 24. However, you might not know that this new soap, the first soap opera greenlit in 25 years on network television, is an absolute must-watch. They did the thing, and they did it soapy! I got the opportunity to watch the first week of episodes, and they were fire.
BTG Has It All
Many soap fans probably remember starting a new soap opera from day one. However, some younger viewers haven’t had this opportunity, so they have to read about the show’s history. With BTG premiering tomorrow, you have the chance to watch from the very first moment all over again, and it’s a great thing for avid watchers.
The best thing is that BTG has it all.
A rich, powerful family in the Duprees that sticks together above all else. Check.
Skeletons in the family’s closet? Check.
A hospital? Check.
A jilted ex-wife? Check.
A fancy club in Fairmont Crest? Check.
A villain misrepresenting herself? Check.
A devious plan? Check.
A child whose father doesn’t know? Check.
Strong women? Check.
A fancy affair? Check.
An elevator pregnancy emergency? Check.
A heart-stopping moment? Check.
Beyond The Gates has ALL this and more, and it’s only the first week. The drama is there. The soapy mess is there. The powerful characters are there. The connections are there. The love is there.
Sometimes, connecting with a new show isn’t easy, and it might take me (and you) a few episodes. However, Michele Val Jean, Sheila Ducksworth, Tamara Tunie (Anita), Daphnée Duplaix (Nicole), Karla Mosley (Dani), Clifton Davis (Vernon), and the rest of the cast and crew have created a standout hit that drew me in from the first moment.
The characters are people I find myself rooting for or loving to hate (I’m looking at you, Bill [Timon Kyle Durrett]). This soap is a visual delight from the rich and varied sets to the great wardrobe from Daytime Emmy winner Jeresa Featherstone. BTG also has licensed music, and the score fits beautifully with the scenes.
I urge you to tune in on weekdays from 2–3 PM ET (1–2 PM PT) starting on Monday, February 24. Trust me, you will not want to miss this new daytime drama on CBS and Paramount+. Check out the slideshow below for a preview of episode one. Be sure to subscribe to Soap Hub‘s BTG newsletter for all the latest on your new obsession.
