General Hospital’s Sofia Mattsson Takes Fans on a Heartfelt Journey Down Sasha’s Memory Lane

Sasha’s had a tough run in Port Charles.
Sasha has been on quite the journey in Port Charles, and her portrayer, Sofia Mattsson, recently took a trip down memory lane for her General Hospital character.
Sasha’s Series of Unfortunate Events
On the latest episode of Daily Drama, hosted by GH co-stars Steve Burton (Jason) and Bradford Anderson (Spinelli), Mattsson was asked the ultimate question about her character. “I feel like it’d be fun to track Sasha’s life in Port Charles,” Anderson suggested.

After Mattsson immediately noted her character’s life has been a decline, the actress started at Sasha’s beginning. “I started off as a bad girl; was going to come on and pretend to be Nina’s (Cynthia Watros) daughter.”
Mattsson referred to her character as a con artist at first. Then, she detailed the couple switch between Sasha and Chase (Josh Swickard) and Michael (ex-Chad Duell) and Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) that eventually led to Sasha’s relationship with Brando (the late Johnny Wactor, whose killers recently got sentenced).

“We had an epic love story,” Mattsson said of her character’s relationship with Brando. “I loved working with him so much,” she continued about Wactor. “I lost my baby and my husband.”
“But you got to keep his mom,” Anderson chimed in, referring to Gladys (ex-Bonnie Burroughs).
Happily Never After
Then Sasha’s breakdown led to her smashing a sleazy paparazzi’s car. “I smashed a car, a windshield,” Mattsson continued after reminding her co-stars that Cyrus (Jeff Kober) once had her addicted to drugs. “Which was very fun, personally.”
While not touching on Sasha’s unnecessary stint in a mental institution or going from Deception model to Quartermaine cook, Mattsson only had one thing to say about her character’s story. “I know you can’t be happy on a soap, and as soon as you’re happy, they have to ruin it, but they’ve really gone far with me.”
