The beloved “Yellowstone” prequel “1923,“created by Taylor Sheridan, returns for a second season on February 23, 2025 on Paramount+.
Exploring the history of the Dutton family, the series takes place following the events of “1883″ and focuses on a new generation of Duttons — Jacob (Harrison Ford) and Cara Dutton (Helen Mirren) — as they navigate land grabs, power struggles, and conflicts with neighboring factors.
After premiering in December 2022, the Season 1 finale aired in February 2023. Two years later, Season 2 will pick up where the dramatic events of Season 1 left off.

“1923″ Season 2 will premiere on February 23, 2025 on Paramount+ (free trial) at 12 a.m. ET.

All eight episodes of Season 1 are available on Paramount+. Season 1 is currently being re-aired on the Paramount Network every Sunday, starting December 8, following new episodes of “Yellowstone” Season 5 Part 2. After the series finale of “Yellowstone” on December 15, two episodes will air every Sunday.
Paramount+ is the only place to watch the “1923″ Season 2 premiere and the full season.

What is ‘1923′ Season 2 about?
The official synopsis states, “In the second season of ‘1923,’ a cruel winter brings new challenges and unfinished business to Jacob (Ford) and Cara (Mirren) back at Dutton Ranch. With harsh conditions and adversaries threatening to end the Dutton legacy, Spencer (Sklenar) embarks on an arduous journey home, racing against time to save his family in Montana. Meanwhile, Alexandra (Schlaepfer) sets off on her own harrowing trans-Atlantic journey to find Spencer and reclaim their love.”
Harrison Ford (“Star Wars” and “Raiders of the Lost Ark”) plays Jacob Dutton, the patriarch of the Dutton family. Season 1 sees him leading the Dutton Ranch through multiple threats, including an assassination attempt and the encroaching danger from powerful land barons like Donald Whitfield.
Helen Mirren as Cara Dutton
Helen Mirren (“The Madness of King George”) plays Cara Dutton, the matriarch of the Dutton family who stands by her husband, Jacob, through ongoing attacks and threats to their land and legacy.
Branson Sklenar as Spencer Dutton
Branson Sklenar (“Vice”) plays Spencer Dutton, Jacob’s nephew, who is both a war veteran with PTSD and a man trying to escape the legacy of violence. By the end of Season 1, Spencer is separated from his wife, Alexandra, and begins his journey back to Montana to help save the ranch and reunite with his family.

Darren Mann (“Chilling Adventures of Sabrina”) plays Jack Dutton, the young, idealistic nephew of Jacob, eager to prove himself as a worthy successor to the family’s ranching legacy.
Julia Schlaepfer as Alexandra Dutton
Julia Schlaepfer (“Madam Secretary”) plays Alexandra (Alex) Dutton, Spencer’s strong-willed wife. At the end of Season 1, she is left behind in Europe when Spencer heads off to Montana, but she refuses to stay passive. In Season 2, Alexandra will embark on her own journey to reunite with Spencer as she fights for their love and her place in the Dutton family.

Brian Geraghty (“The Hurt Locker”) plays Zane David, one of the ranch hands at the Dutton Ranch, fiercely loyal to Jacob and willing to fight to protect the family.

Aminah Nieves (“Blueberry”) plays Teonna Rainwater, a young Indigenous woman now on the run after facing brutal violence at the hands of a Catholic boarding school.

Sebastian Roché as Father Renaud
Sebastian Roché (“Cabinet of Curiosities”) plays Father Renaud, a Catholic priest with a dark side, introduced as an authority figure within the boarding school system. His character is seen facilitating the systemic abuse of young Indigenous children, including Teonna Rainwater.
Timothy Dalton as Donald Whitfield
Timothy Dalton (“License to Kill”) plays Donald Whitfield, a ruthless land baron who serves as one of the primary antagonists in “1923.” He is hell-bent on acquiring the Duttons’ land by any means necessary.
