The first special, titled Ruah’s Rules: Directing NCIS and NCIS: Hawai’i, will delve into the directorial aspects of both NCIS and NCIS: Hawai’i, offering insights into the creative processes behind the scenes.The second special, NCIS: Hawai’i Season 3: The Third Wave, will focus on the final season of the show, providing fans with additional behind-the-scenes content and reflections on the concluding chapter of the series, according to a Digital Spy report.The box set, NCIS: Hawai’i: The Complete Series, is currently available for pre-order on Amazon Canada, with pre-orders for the US and UK expected to open soon.

Cancellation Decision Explained

The cancellation of NCIS: Hawai’i was a challenging decision for CBS Entertainment. Amy Reisenbach, an executive at CBS, acknowledged the difficulty of the choice in a recent interview. “I’m a big fan of TV first and I sympathize and relate to all the fans out there who are disappointed in the fact that these shows are ending. But at the end of the day, our job at CBS is to make those really tough calls,” Reisenbach told Variety.

Reisenbach explained the decision-making process, noting that it involved thorough evaluations of viewership numbers and future projections. “We toss and turn and have sleepless nights and have endless discussions but we look at all the numbers. We look at what our projections are for the future, we look at where we see opportunities to potentially have even bigger success on the schedule. And we make those tough decisions,” she added.

Cast Reflects on the Show’s Impact

Vanessa Lachey, who starred as Agent Jane Tennant, expressed her pride in being part of NCIS: Hawai’i. Reflecting on the show’s conclusion, she said, “The show meant so much to me and to lots of people. As an AAPI (Asian American and Pacific Islander) woman, wife, mother, colleague, and friend, I am more proud than ever to have been your Jane Tennant on TV”, as quoted in a report by Digital Spy.
