Cody doesn’t fit in Port Charles. It is time to say goodbye?
General Hospital tried to make it work but it’s just not. There doesn’t seem to be a place for Cody in Port Charles so maybe it’s time to say goodbye.
Let It Go
From the moment Cody (Josh Kelly) parachuted into the Metro Court pool, he hasn’t found a place to fit. At first he was a grifter who was trying to swindle his way into money. He gambled, lied about his father, and took Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) for granted. GH teased a mysterious story between him and his old camp buddy Dante (Dominic Zamprogna), but nothing materialized.
There was a glimmer of hope when he turned into a superhero and saved Sasha’s (Sofia Mattsson) life. It looked like the Quartermaine cook and stable boy would go on to an epic love story, but it became icky when they turned out to be cousins. Cody is Mac’s (John J York) son, so he is part of the legacy Scorpio family, but he’s just not fitting in. His best friend is seven-year-old James (Gary James Fuller).
GH might be trying to put him together with Molly (Kristen Vaganos) but they don’t make much sense as a couple.
You Can Go Now
Things have gone from bad to worse, where Cody is concerned. The character used to be lost and looking for a storyline, but now it’s worse. We get that he is upset about losing Sasha. Why wouldn’t he be? She was the best thing that ever happened to him. But that doesn’t give him the right to run around town acting like a spoiled brat.
First he picked a fight with Drew (Cameron Mathison). Okay, who could blame him for that one? Then, he went on to pick a fight with Spinelli (Bradford Anderson). Nobody dislikes Spinelli! His latest disaster is running around town, telling everyone that Jason (Steve Burton) is the father of Sasha’s baby. Not only is he wrong, it is none of his business. He is only hurting the woman he claims to care about.
Josh Kelly is a great actor, but this part is no longer working if it ever did. Maybe kill him off and have him come back as a completely different character, like Austin Gatlin Holt (Roger Howarth)? It didn’t work for him, but that may have been because Franco was a beloved character. Cody is not. Do you think it is time for Cody to leave Port Charles? Let us know in the comments.
