He may play Gio on General Hospital but when Giovanni Mazzi isn’t at the ABC Studios, he can be spotted entertaining at various locations — and his latest performance had one of his castmates cheering, “Gio!”
The soap actor posted a video of himself jamming on the violin to music by American rapper Kendrick Lamar during the Los Angeles Lakers halftime show. Wearing a LeBron James #23 jersey, Mazzi put on one heck of a show! See for yourself…
A few of his Port Charles castmates showed their support in the comments and Tabyana Ali (Trina) was the first to cheer, “Gio!” Hudson West (Jake) gave his pal a shoutout and stated, “Awesome! Great job!” as Wally Kurth (Ned) added, “My boy, Gio!” While Eva LaRue let him know how “awesome” his performance was, Jacqueline Grace Lopez (Blaze) sent Mazzi a series of fire emojis and Scarlett Spears’ (Donna) mom said, “Gio, Gio, Gio!”
For those who don’t know, the actor, who has showcased his musical talents on the ABC soap, was first discovered at the age of nine while performing a solo violin medley at the Chicago Bulls Youth Talent Search in 2015. Since then, he has turned up at various NBA All-Star games and MLB games, as well as over 35 regular season NBA games.
And in 2023, he performed the National Anthem for the Lakers during game three of the Western Conference Finals. “It is such an honor!” Mazzi stated. “The crowd was amazing and I loved watching the playback with the new camera!”
Were you as wowed by his performance as we were? To echo some of his co-stars… all we can say is, “Gio!”
