8 Station 19 Storylines That Need To Be Resolved Before The Grey’s Anatomy Spinoff’s Ending

Station 19 will end after 7 seasons, and with only 10 episodes in the final season, there are still numerous storylines that need to be resolved.

Grey’s Anatomy spinoff Station 19 will be ending at the end of the upcoming season 7, leaving several storylines that need to be wrapped up ahead of the series finale. Due to the double WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, Station 19 season 7 will be just 10 episodes, one of which will be a crossover with Grey’s Anatomy. With an abridged final season, Station 19 likely won’t be able to explore the characters and their stories as much as viewers had hoped. Why Station 19 is ending with season 7 hasn’t been revealed, but hopefully, the early announcement will allow writers to resolve some important major storylines from past seasons.

The dramatic and shocking Station 19 season 6 ending set up an exciting season 7, but also left viewers with many questions that need answers. Like its parent show Grey’s AnatomyStation 19 has always thrived on shock value through cliffhangers and unpredictable plot twists. However, with the series coming to an end, the finale should end on a satisfactory note that answers as many questions viewers have had as possible. After years spent developing them, the series finale has the chance to give its characters the endings they deserve.

8.Jack’s Fate

Station 19 season 6 ended with Jack falling unconscious

The big cliffhanger at the end of Station 19 season 6 saw Jack suddenly collapse, with him being unconscious at the time the credits rolled. What happened to Jack and what will happen to him is the biggest question Station 19 season 7 must answer. After killing off Dixon in the season 6 finale, it would be a big mistake for Station 19 to kill off Jack, who has experienced some of the show’s greatest character development and finally seems to be in a better place in his life.

While Jack’s collapse in the Station 19 season 6 finale seems to be related to a previous concussion he tried to hide from the team, it could have serious consequences for his character in season 7. Given the recent death of Dixon and Ben’s appearance in the Grey’s Anatomy season 19 finale, Jack is more than likely alive. Still, this doesn’t necessarily mean that he is healthy. It is concerning that Jack continues to downplay how he’s feeling both physically and mentally to those closest to him, which should be further explored in Station 19 season 7.

7.Chief Ross’s Position

Will she have to step down as SFD Fire Chief?

Emerson Brooks as Robel Osman and Merle Dandridge as Natasha Ross in Station 19 season 6, episode 18

One of the biggest storylines in Station 19 season 6 revolved around the mayoral race. With Dixon running for mayor and having a clear vendetta against the station and Crisis One, Travis made the decision to run against him. After Travis played a dirty move to hurt Dixon’s campaign, the former fire chief decided to fight back by releasing photos that exposed Chief Ross’s romantic and sexual relationship with Sullivan, her subordinate. Though neither Dixon nor Travis eventually became mayor, Osman hasn’t made any commitment to Ross keeping her position as SFD Fire Chief.

While Ross plans to fight for her job and has the full support of Andy, who was recently named captain of Station 19, there is still a chance she’ll have to step down. Ross has proven herself to be a capable and admirable Fire Chief, but her relationship with Sullivan and the way it was revealed makes her position controversial. Things seem to be going well between Sullivan and Natasha going into Station 19 season 7, but if she wants to keep her job as Chief, she may have to end her relationship with him.

6.Maya & Carina Becoming Parents

For the past two Station 19 seasons, much of Maya and Carina’s storyline has revolved around their journey to becoming parents. After Maya agreed to have a baby with Carina in Station 19 season 5, their storyline turned to the process of looking for donors for insemination. Station 19 season 6 saw their relationship struggling as attempt after attempt to get Carina pregnant failed and Maya spiraled deeper and deeper into depression. It was a rough season for the couple, but Station 19 season 7 is thankfully looking brighter for Maya and Carina.

As the longest-standing couple on Station 19–outside of Ben and Bailey, whose relationship predates the spinoff–the series has put Maya and Carina through a lot. After everything, they deserve a happy ending that includes them finally becoming parents. Since it has been such a large part of their story in recent seasons, it would only make sense for Station 19 season 7 to resolve it by ending with them expecting or having a child. Maya and Carina becoming parents would also add to some of the important LGBTQ representation that Station 19 has become known for throughout its seasons.

5.Andy’s Endgame

Is there still a chance for Andy and Sullivan?

As the protagonist of Station 19, Andy has had multiple love interests but has yet to find her own happy ending. At the beginning of Station 19, she was in a relationship with Jack, who even had plans to propose to her. Yet, the couple called it quits early in season 1 as she dealt with her father’s cancer diagnosis and the captain race. Then, Andy’s first love, Ryan, was shot and killed in front of her, leaving her without the chance to get proper closure with him. Andy’s longest and most significant relationship was with Sullivan, but they’ve been divorced for two seasons now.

Since then, Andy hasn’t had much of a love life outside a regrettable hookup with Beckett and a brief fling with Eli. While Andy doesn’t need a love interest in Station 19 season 7, with all she’s been through romantically, it would be nice to see her finally find someone. With Sullivan and Ross together, it doesn’t seem like he’ll be her endgame. Additionally, with Station 19 season 7 only having 10 episodes, there isn’t much time to introduce a new love interest, leaving Jack, whom she has become even closer with since their breakup, as a strong endgame option for Andy.

4.Vic & Crisis One

Vic & Andy On A Crisis One Call In Station 19.jpg

As the youngest firefighter in the station, Vic’s career journey has been an interesting and ever-evolving one in Station 19. One of her first big storylines in Station 19 season 1 involved her being scared of fire and the team helping her overcome her fear. While other characters have fought to climb up the ranks in the Seattle Fire Department to be named captain, Vic has previously stayed content with her role in the fire department. It wasn’t until Station 19 season 6 when Chief Ross saw her talent in crisis management and suggested that she take over the Crisis One program that Vic’s true passion became clear.

Crisis One was started by Vic’s late best friend, Dean, as a way to help dissolve tricky situations while on call. The program proved itself to be more important than ever in Station 19 season 6 when Ross, Vic, and Andy used their training to de-escalate a confrontation between the police and a young Black man that easily and unnecessarily could have turned violent. With Vic currently studying for her psychology degree, Station 19 season 7 should see her take on the Crisis One program and carry on Dean’s legacy.

3.Maya’s Captaincy

Could she become captain at another station?

Unlike Vic, Maya has expressed serious discontentment with her position as lieutenant since getting demoted from captain in the Station 19 season 4 finale. Maya saw her demotion as unfair and made this very clear to the department and Chief Ross, but her appeal never went anywhere. This led to Maya making many self-destructive decisions at work to try and prove herself, which put her health at risk in Station 19 season 6 until she was physically forced to slow down after an accident.

Though Maya didn’t compete for the captain position when it opened up in Station 19 season 6, it was because she wasn’t in the right place to do so. Instead, Maya decided to focus on her mental health and repairing her relationship with Carina. Now that she’s done that, Station 19 season 7 opens Maya back up to focus more on her career ambitions. With Andy finally being named captain of SFD Station 19, Maya would have to leave to be named captain elsewhere, so hopefully, it’s not something that would ever happen until the end of Station 19 season 7.

2.Theo’s Future At Station 19

He isn’t satisfied with Andy being named captain over him

Perhaps the character who seems most discontent with his role in Station 19 is Theo, who was passed over for the permanent captain position in favor of Andy. After Theo failed as Station 19’s interim captain, it became clear that he wouldn’t be named Beckett’s successor. Between him, Sullivan, and Andy, she was the best choice for the position, but Theo is already having a hard time seeing this.

Theo is the newest member of SFD Station 19, having transferred over from Station 23 when it closed down in Station 19 season 5. Theo and Vic were already a couple at that point, with the move offering a convenient reason to make him a bigger part of Station 19. However, Vic and Theo broke up in the Station 19 season 6 finale, giving him little reason to stay at the station, especially now that Andy is captain. If he doesn’t leave in Station 19 season 7, Theo will likely make Andy’s job even more difficult until he can learn to respect Chief Ross’s decision and Andy’s authority.

1.Maya & Her Brother Mason

Mason made a brief appearance in season 1

Danielle Savre as Maya Bishop in Station 19 season 6 episode 13

One of the first explorations into Maya’s complicated background in Station 19 came via the brief appearance of her brother, Mason, in season 1, episode 4. The episode revealed that he was homeless and had experienced problems with addiction. Ryan promised Maya he’d keep an eye on him for her, but he hasn’t appeared since, despite numerous opportunities. Later on, both of Maya’s parents guest starred when Station 19 season 3 delved deeper into Maya’s past and the effects her father’s abuse had on her. Her troubled childhood came up again in a major way in Station 19 season 6 when Maya went through a mental health crisis.

Though little is known about Mason and he hasn’t been seen since season 1, viewers have held out hope that Station 19 will reintroduce him. Mason is an important part of Maya’s story and their relationship and childhood even bear some similarities to Carina and Andrew’s, which was explored in detail before his death. As Maya and Carina look to start their own family and Station 19 comes to an end, season 7 is the last and perhaps perfect chance for Mason to return.
