General Hospital has seen a number of dynamic characters come and go over the years, but as we look ahead to 2025, there are a few familiar faces we hope to see more of – and a few others we’d love to see take a step back. From rising stars to long-time favorites, let’s explore the characters who deserve more screen time, and those who might benefit from a little less.
More of These Characters
Gio (Giovanni Mazza)
One of the best additions to Port Charles in recent memory is the charming Gio. This talented, sweet-hearted musician has quickly won fans over, offering light and warmth in the often-turbulent lives of the Quartermaines and Trina. His growing connection with Trina (Tabyana Ali) is filled with promise, and his mysterious past – including his run-in with Emma (Braedyn Bruner) – has the potential for some compelling drama. We can’t wait to see what comes next for this rising star in Port Charles.
Charlotte (Scarlett Fernandez)
Now that Charlotte has returned to town, it’s time for the next chapter in her story. The daughter of Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) and Nina (Cynthia Watros), Charlotte’s return adds an intriguing layer to the Cassadine family drama. Will she follow in the footsteps of her legendary grandmother Helena (ex-Constance Towers) and become a force to be reckoned with? With so many opportunities ahead, we’d love to see Charlotte play a more prominent role in Port Charles – but we hope she decides to reunite with her mother and leave the chaos of the Cassadines behind.
Lucky (Jonathan Jackson)
Lucky Spencer is a character who never truly leaves our hearts, and with his return to Port Charles in August, it’s clear that there’s so much more to explore. Lucky has already started to make his mark, from reconnecting with his family to potentially reigniting his romance with Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). As a legacy character, Lucky’s story holds a lot of weight in the fabric of General Hospital. Whether it’s finding a new career path or dealing with unresolved family matters, there’s so much to unpack with Lucky, and we’re excited to see what the future holds for him.
Less of These Characters
Drew (Cameron Mathison)
Drew Cain was once a fan-favorite, but lately, his storyline has taken a rather unpleasant turn. His obsession with Willow (Katelyn MacMullen), his strained relationship with Curtis (Donnell Turner), and his questionable decisions have left many viewers frustrated. What was once a character we admired is now someone we’re ready to see take a step back in the new year. Perhaps a break from Drew would allow for a more intriguing re-entry into Port Charles – one that doesn’t revolve around drama and manipulation.
Nina (Cynthia Watros)
Nina’s storyline has had its share of twists and turns, but at this point, many fans are ready for the character to take a break. From her chaotic relationship with Sonny (Maurice Benard) to her interference in Willow and Michael’s (Chad Duell) family life, Nina has consistently been at the center of Port Charles’ most divisive conflicts. With her constant meddling – especially pushing Willow toward a divorce – it’s time for Nina to take a step back and allow the residents of Port Charles to breathe a little easier. Nina’s presence is no longer adding the tension and drama that it once did; rather, it’s becoming increasingly tiresome.
Ava (Maura West)
Once a fierce and complex character, Ava Jerome has found herself in limbo over the past few years. With her family ties unraveling and few clear storylines left, Ava’s role in Port Charles has become less relevant. Trina (Tabyana Ali) could easily take over the gallery, and with Sonny (Maurice Benard) always around to protect his daughter Avery, there’s little reason for Ava to remain entrenched in the drama. It may be time to say goodbye to Ava before she causes any more disruption within the Corinthos family and Port Charles as a whole.
As General Hospital moves into 2025, there are plenty of opportunities to refresh and refocus the storylines. Let’s give more screen time to characters who are still developing and hold promise for the future, while giving a break to those whose arcs are no longer resonating with fans. With the right balance, Port Charles will continue to captivate us for years to come.
