10 Reasons Why ‘Love Is Blind’ Is the Best Netflix Dating Show, Ever

With seven seasons under its belt (an eighth in February 2025) and multiple iterations in different countries, Love is Blind has quickly become one of the most popular reality TV dating shows. While Netflix has a few, it’s arguably the best on the streamer.

The show’s premise is unique, requiring that cast members form deep, emotional bonds and get engaged prior to meeting in person or even knowing what the other person looks like. The journey through every season as singles meet, fall in love, go on vacation, plan weddings, and either get married or not, has fans glued to their screens. There are many reasons the show is so captivating.

10. Couples That Have Actually Lasted

Unlike many other reality dating shows where most couples have split, Love is Blind has an impressive track record. There have been 13 marriages since the show’s first seven seasons. So far, only three of them have ended in divorce, one most recently from season seven. Two of the couples have been married since the first season, both celebrating their sixth wedding anniversaries in November 2024.

Several Love is Blind married couples also have babies or are expecting. Many have also remained friends with other couples from their seasons, like Tiffany Pennywell and Brett Brown and Zack Goytowski and Bliss Poureetezadi from season four. They showed photos of the four of them vacationing together during their reunion special. While the premise might seem bizarre, the experiment has actually worked and Love is Blind is one of the best reality dating shows of all time thanks to not just successful weddings, but lasting marriages.

9. Focus On Building Emotional Connections

They Can’t See One Another Until After An Engagement

What fans love about the premise of Love is Blind is that singles are encouraged to only talk with one another from secluded pods. They can hear each other’s voices but can’t see one another. This forces them to talk openly and honestly about their lives, their motivations, families, values, and interests. It completely removes the aspect of physical appearance, even race, from the equation.

While some cast members have discussed looks, it’s encouraged that they don’t. Some couples, like Amy Cortes and Johnny McIntyre, stayed true to that and had no preconceived notions about what the other looked like before the big reveal. It’s a refreshing take that removes any biases about someone’s facial features, race, body type, even how they dress or carry themselves.

8. Stirring Up Drama With Meet & Greet Parties

Singles Strut Their Stuff And Cause Problems

While Love is Blind is all about love, in the end, fans can’t deny that it’s also about the drama, making it one of the best guilty pleasure shows. There are instances where people want to call out others once they meet in person, especially when singles who weren’t coupled up are invited to join. This often leads to men and women revealing how deep their connection was with a now coupled person, or one-half of a couple realizing they are more physically attracted to someone they didn’t choose.

There are also instances where people bring up conversations they had or heard back in the suite that didn’t sit well with them. One of the most notable situations was in Love is Blind: UK’s inaugural season when Benaiah Grunewald Brydie confronted Sam Klein about the awful comments he made about Nicole Stevens when he was with the guys. There was also the drama in season five when Lydia Arleen Velez Gonzalez learned that her ex-boyfriend Uche Okoroha was on the show, and he proceeded to try and warn her fiancé, James “Milton” Johnson IV, about her. It makes for juicy post-show conversation.

7. Love Triangle Drama

Three’s A Crowd

Love triangles are inevitable in a set-up like Love is Blind where singles talk with many different people and end up making connections with more than one. Every season sees a few situations where someone is forced to choose between one person or another, and they are torn about what to do. No matter which they choose, the other person always shows up at a party after, which results in lots of drama and some of the best fights on Love is Blind. But there’s even drama in the pods when these choices are made, too.

One of the most memorable situations was with Jimmy Presnell, who chose Chelsea Blackwell over Jessica Vestal. Many believe he made this decision because she mentioned that people say she resembles Megan Fox. After meeting Jessica in person, it was evident that he was very attracted to her. The first, however, was with Matthew Barnett, who chose Amber Pike. The other woman with whom he connected, Jessica Batten, then said yes to Mark Cuevas but proceeded to try and question Barnett’s decision the entire time they all got together, causing friction. The love triangles are one part of the show fans always look forward to seeing play out.

6. Second Chance Options

Make Up For Mistakes

Love is Blind is accepting of the fact that sometimes, people make mistakes. And there’s no reason they can’t have a second chance. Sometimes the situation is downright awful, like when Jeramey Lutinski went behind is fiancé Laura Dadisman’s back and met up with Sarah Bick. He then flaunted his time with her after they broke up marking one of reality TV’s most controversial moments of 2024. But most of the time, it’s wholesome and sweet.

The most memorable is in season four when Zack Goytowski reluctantly chose Irina Solomonova over Bliss Poureetezadi. As soon as they met and went on vacation together, it was clear there was no chemistry and he regretted the decision. He met with Bliss once back home and begged for her forgiveness and a second chance. Seeing as they remain married with a baby, it was worth it to follow his gut. The same happened in the U.K. version when Nicole realized she made a mistake in choosing Sam and didn’t even go on the vacation with him. After pleading her case to Benaiah, he decided to give it a shot, and the pair remain married to this day.

5. Cast Members Who Are Actually Looking For Love

Many Have Genuine Intentions

While the later seasons seem to have more and more cast members with hidden agendas, and there’s always one or two every season who don’t strike viewers as being genuine, there seems to be many who are genuinely fed up with dating and want to find “the one.” This is evidenced in the fact that many of the cast members are in their 30s with solid careers. They have everything in their lives except for romance, and legitimately want to find their perfect match.

For these cast members, the show provides an interesting alternative to their usual dating methods. It forces them to consider a partner they would never approach in the real world because the person isn’t their “type.” What’s more, the cast members who are most genuine are not always the ones viewers think.

4. No Vote Outs

It’s Not A Game

Most reality dating shows are generally vote-out shows where someone is sent home from one week to the next, some even have new people come in. It’s about whittling down people from a large group to one or two top choices. But it’s impossible to connect with that many people at once, and there are so many distractions.

With Love is Blind, while there are many people who don’t get coupled up, or who do but aren’t featured on the show, there is no ceremony or attention paid to the people who don’t connect. It’s all about the connections that are made. While some people do technically go home if they are broken up with and haven’t connected with anyone else, like those in love triangles, no one is “voted off the island,” so to speak.

3. Controversial Reveals During The Show

Seriously Shocking Moments

Viewers love a good controversy, and when one occurs, the internet lights up in a frenzy with details. The latest was in season seven when Tyler Francis got engaged and kept talking to his fiancé Ashley Adionser, about starting a family. But the simultaneous conversation online once the episodes started streaming quickly switched to the fact that he already had three kids. Eventually, this was addressed on the show. He revealed that he served as a sperm donor for a friend and her wife, and he wasn’t involved with the kids. But when the wife left his friend, the situation became more complicated. The conversation went on and on, especially online as the season streamed, and the pair are the latest to get divorced.

In another controversy from season six, a woman claiming to be the girlfriend of Trevor Sova, posted online about their relationship, complete with text messages that she sent about how much he loved her and his insincere reasons for going on the show. Trevor was grilled on the reunion special and ultimately admitted to his misdeeds. Controversy sometimes even happens on the show. In season seven, Monica David and Stephen Richardson broke up on camera when she found sexting messages between him and another woman. While the heartache is often real, it makes for great television.

2. Cast Members Really Open Up To One Another

Deep And Meaningful Conversations

During the pods episodes, and even after, cast members open up to one another in honest ways. They talk about their families, challenges growing up, people they have lost, and even past relationships. It’s refreshing to hear conversations with substance that are even about topics like religion and politics.

While much of the dialogue is surface level, the people who really connect are the ones who aren’t afraid to share more openly. Fans didn’t like how things ended with Amber Desiree “AD” Smith and Clay Gravesande on season six, for example, but they appreciated how he revealed his issues with commitment and how much of that stemmed from his father. His heartfelt apologies and discussion about how he’s working on himself at the reunion was a nice change from the typical shouting matches.

1. Memorable Parental Moments

The Moms And Dads Steal The Show

Each season, there’s an episode or two dedicated to the couples meeting one another’s families. And there are moments in these episodes that are arguably the best of the show. Clay’s mother’s talk with her ex-husband on season six was so powerful and inspirational. The same goes for the conversation between Amy’s father and Johnny, which seemed incredibly sincere.

The one fans recall the most and love, however, is when season two villain Abhishek “Shake” Chatterjee confided in his mother about his lack of physical attraction to his fiancé Deepti Vempati. Rather than agree with her son and take his side, she called him out and told him that Deepti deserved to be with someone who appreciated and loved her, and nothing less.
