10 Most Rewatchable Episodes of The Office, Ranked

The Office is still celebrated as one of America’s best sitcoms, almost 20 years since it first aired. The mockumentary stuck with the fictional paper merchant company Dunder Mifflin, based in Scranton. The basic setting allowed for a range of intricate storylines led by the employees in the office.

With over 200 episodes, fans connected with their favorite characters. Michael’s stupidity, Dwight’s strange ways, and Angela’s stern attitude were all part of what made the series a success. It’s known as a comfort show, with fans enjoying repeats of the same episodes. A few of them stand out as being the most rewatchable, whether for the comedy, narrative, or relationships between characters.

10. Jim and Pam’s Big Day Was Full of Love and Mishaps

The love story that had viewers hooked from the first episode ran between Jim and Pam. Their chemistry was evident from the off, even though they couldn’t be together. When they eventually became an item, their wedding was a much-anticipated episode. Two favorite characters were finally cementing their love, which they truly deserved to do.

Their big day didn’t come without hiccups. Pam’s dress had an issue; her grandmother found out she was pregnant when no one wanted her to know, and Andy ended up with an injury that led Pam to drive him to the hospital. Once the chaos had died down, the pair were able to find their happiness. Although “Niagara” was an unusual episode, as weddings don’t regularly happen in The Office, the writers managed to keep all the elements that always made the show so great.

9. Michael Looked Forward to the Dundies, but Not Everyone Felt the Same

Pam shouting at the camera with her Dundie Award in The Office

Michael decides to hold an annual awards event called the Dundies. Inevitably, he ends up offending someone or simply boring everyone. However, after Pam and Roy had a row in the parking lot, she got a little drunk afterward. When she went back into the event, Pam added some energy to the evening.

She was supportive and encouraging of Michael. Consuming alcohol also led to her kissing Jim and falling over. Jim appeared to feel hopeful about Pam’s feelings for him, but when she went to ask him something, she stopped when she noticed the camera. The episode is mostly rewatchable for seeing how lifted Michael felt when people started to join in with his awards ceremony. He just wanted to feel liked.

8. Michael Had an Outing Planned for His Employees, and Pam Spoke Her Mind

“Beach Games” involved another one of Michael’s eccentric ideas, entailing his employees competing in various events to help him determine who could be the next branch manager at Dunder Mifflin. It goes without saying that the episode is great for comedy content and especially enjoyable as the workers venture outside the office. Not to mention, Michael’s crazy idea provided something different.

The most compelling part of the story came with Pam finding her courage to tell everyone how she felt about them not coming to see her art show, and confronting Jim about the weirdness in their friendship. She was done with holding back her thoughts and feelings, so the episode marked a change in her life. It’s another moving moment for the relationship between Pam and Jim, which at that time was platonic.

7. Jim Made a U-Turn On Two Big Decisions in His Work and Personal Life

Jim, Karen and Michael went to interview for a corporate job at Dunder Mifflin in New York. 6. Pam Rejected Jim’s Confession of Love

Michael Scott on Casino Night in The Office.

Staring again with one of Michael’s mishaps, he invites two dates to a casino night at Dunder Mifflin Jan and Carol. Pam rejects Jim, but the two end up sharing a kiss. Viewers shared the heart-sinking feeling that Jim had when Pam told him she was going to marry Roy. He’d laid everything on the line, so there was no uncertainty, but Pam couldn’t be with him. Jenna Fischer and John Krasinski played the parts with authenticity, leaving viewers disheartened at how close their favorite characters came to being together.

5. CPR Training Goes Awry With Michael’s Lack of Concentration

“Stress Relief” is spread over two episodes, beginning with Dwight taking it upon himself to make everyone believe they were trapped by a fire and had to work out how to get out the building. He caused mayhem among all the staff, and Stanley ended up having a heart attack. In what he thought would become a good learning point, Michael decided to get someone in to teach his employees how to do CPR.

Of course, it did not go to plan. Dwight went way over the top with what he had to do, and Michael mistook the words of “I Will Survive” by Gloria Gaynor to be the words for the song “Stayin’ Alive” by the Bee Gees. The beat of latter song was to be used to keep a steady rhythm when carrying out CPR. The episodes are dramatic, but various moments have gone on to be the most memorable in the show.

4. The Office Had a Satisfying Ending That Rivals Other Sitcom Finales

Oscar, Meredith, Jim, Pam and Dwight clap in The Office finale.

Finales are a nerve-wracking part of any series, with creators wanting to end on a high. The Office did just that. The documentary crew had returned to revisit the Dunder Mifflin employees one year later, and a lot happened. Everyone prepared for Angela and Dwight’s wedding. Michael came back to be the best man, and Jim and Pam had just found out they’d be moving house.

Among other things, the end scene of the last episode succinctly placed all the main characters in the same room one last time. There wasn’t any drama, but there was obvious emotion at the thought of the characters moving on. Everyone had grown up, and viewers were leaving behind a show that had stood the test of time. Although it’s sad, it’s a lovely episode to rewatch.

3. It Wasn’t Easy for Michael to Leave Dunder Mifflin

Although “Finale” was the true ending to The Office, “Goodbye Michael” was the end of an era for the show. Michael was leaving Scranton so that he could live with Holly. Their relationship almost didn’t work out, and this time, there was no way he’d let her go. What that did mean, however, was he’d be letting go of the friendships he’d made at work, albeit they’d stay in touch.

Moving moments like the whole office singing to Michael and Jim not wanting to say goodbye to him brought a lot of emotion to the episode. It was topped off with Pam frantically running through the airport to ensure she got to say goodbye to Michael. He may have been ridiculous at times, but the character made a mark on his closest friends, and it’s joyous to watch.

2. A Simple Game of Secret Santa Becomes Unnecessarily Hectic

A scene from the Christmas episode of The Office.

There were so many times when Jim could’ve confessed his feelings for Pam, and it so nearly happened during “Christmas Party.” Jim had got Pam’s name in Secret Santa, so he bought her a teapot that she wanted. He also added “bonus gifts” inside the pot, along with a letter which would’ve told her everything she needed to know about how he felt.

Unfortunately, the event turned into “yankee swap,” whereby the gifts all got swapped around. It all got very hectic and Jim was disappointed that Pam didn’t choose to keep the teapot, instead opting for an iPod. By the end though, she had got it back and was overjoyed at the extra gifts inside. Jim managed to take the note away without Pam noticing. Fans of the show will know that the letter came back around at the end of the season.

1. Michael and Jan are the Worst Dinner Hosts

Viewers aren’t the only ones who think “Dinner Party” is the most hilarious episode of The OfficeIt was nearly impossible for the cast to get through the episode without laughing. The main focus of the episode is Jan and Michael hosting a dinner party for a few of their work colleagues (or ex-work colleagues in Jan’s case). But the evening goes far from smoothly, as Michael and Jan just don’t get on.

Title Episode Season
“Dinner Party” 13 4

Jan and Michael aren’t compatible, constantly throwing underhand remarks at each other until the party becomes hellish for all involved. The guests were uncomfortable. However, the comedy value was second to none. Michael’s classic one-liners like “That has sort of an Oakey afterbirth” and Jan’s out-of-place dancing are indeed cringe-worthy but so funny viewers can’t help but repeatedly revisit the episode.
