1 Forgotten Joey Detail In Friends Completely Changes His Story After The Show

The only main character in Friends who got a spinoff series was Joey (Matt LeBlanc), and though it gave his story a proper ending, one forgotten detail in the main series completely changes it. Throughout its 10 seasons, Friends showed the audience the many struggles of Joey, Monica (Courteney Cox), Chandler (Matthew Perry), Phoebe (Lisa Kudrow), Rachel (Jennifer Aniston), and Ross (David Schwimmer) in all areas of their lives, with a special focus on their love lives. In that regard, Joey stood out as he hardly ever committed to a relationship.

Joey was the dim-witted but adorable member of the group, as well as the womanizer. Over the course of 10 seasons, Joey had many dates and girlfriends, including Rachel in one of Friends’ most controversial storylines. Joey’s story was left incomplete at the end of Friends while the rest got closure, but his story briefly continued in his own spinoff series. Joey’s story finally came to a proper ending in his TV show, but it takes a turn when remembering one unusual and surprising job he revealed once in Friends.

Joey Donated To A Sperm Bank As Part Of A Fertility Study In Friends
Joey Surprised His Friends With One “Job”
Although Joey was an actor, it wasn’t the most stable job. More often than not, Joey had to take other, smaller jobs to stay afloat (even if Chandler helped him a lot with the rent and everything else). Joey worked at Central Perk at some point, sold Christmas trees, was a tour guide at the Museum of Natural History, was a waiter at Allesandro’s, and gave cologne samples at the mall, just to mention some of his extra jobs throughout Friends. However, there’s one that changes his story: when he was a sperm donor.
In Friends season 3, episode “The One With The Jam”, Monica was struggling to get over her breakup with Richard. Monica felt she needed a project, so she first decided to make tons of jam and later to have a baby, as a single mother. Monica went to the sperm bank and returned home with the files of potential sperm donors. One of those files was Joey’s, and that’s how they all learned that, while in one of those rough financial patches he often found himself in, Joey donated his sperm for an experiment at a hospital and was paid $700.

Now, at the end of Friends, Joey was the only one in the group who was still single – Monica and Chandler had just become parents to twins, Rachel and Ross had Emma and got back together, and Phoebe married Mike (Paul Rudd). Joey is the only one in the group without kids (it’s implied Phoebe and Mike had kids after Friends), but his above-mentioned donations mean he surely had a couple of genetic children over the years.

What Happened To Joey After His Spinoff TV Show?
Joey’s Happy Ending Was Different From His Friends’
Joey followed the title character as he moved to Los Angeles, hoping to boost his acting career. Joey was accompanied by his sister Gina (Drea de Matteo) and his nephew Michael (Paulo Constanzo), and he met his next-door neighbor and property manager, Alex Garrett (Andrea Anders). Joey and Alex became good friends, with Alex confiding in him her problems in her marriage, and they became romantically involved when she separated from her husband. Joey and Alex had an on/off relationship throughout the series, but the ending of Joey gave them a hopeful ending.

At the end of Joey, it was implied Joey and Alex might get married at some point.
Joey and Alex ended up in a committed relationship with each other, but they had some disagreements with their views on marriage. However, at the end of Joey, it was implied Joey and Alex might get married at some point, as for the first time in a long time, Joey was in love and ready to commit, and Alex was opening her heart again. Joey might never know how many genetic children he has, but he’s no longer the only member of Friends who has no descendants.
